Handbell Ministry Hosts Succesful Seminar
On Friday, Feburary 9, the Handbell Ministry of First Church Round Rock was honored to host clinicians David Jordan & Kevin McChesney as they presented a special "Handbell Development Seminar" directed especially at the solo and ensemble ringer. Ringers from the Austin/Round Rock area met in the Handbell Suite of the First Church Round Rock to learn new techniques and to share ideas. The Round Rock event was the first of five such seminars conducted by McChesney and Jordan during a five day tour of Texas. 
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, David Jordan (pictured right) has been involved with handbells for over 20 years. His teaching accomplishments include four years of teaching handbells at the University of Oregon's School of Music, the 1999 Area III Chesapeake Adult Festival, the Area X 2000 Portland Festival and the 1999-2003 Rogue Valley Handbell Festivals. David has recently relocated in Columbia, South Carolina and works for Jeffers Handbell Supply as head of their educational workshop division.
Kevin McChesney (pictured left) is a true handbell professional. He has composed more than 500 arrangements and original works for handbells and is in constant demand as a conductor and clinician world-wide. Kevin has a Bachelors of Music Composition and Theory degree from the University of Colorado and currently works as music editor for Jeffers Handbell Suplly, Ringing Word and the Solo To Ensemble Project (STEP). He is a talented composer, arranger, keygoardist, guitarist and conducts the popular auditioned community handbell ensemble, "The Pike's Peak Ringers." he lives in Colorado Springs with his wife Tracy.
