Praying for our Soldiers by Name...

Soldiers being deployed from Fort Hood are asking for our prayers. Volunteers are referred to as prayer warriors and are asked to pray daily for three soldiers by name. Currently there are more soldiers who have requested prayers than there are prayer warriors.

The Power of Prayer

PrayFAST - Pray For A Soldier Team - is sponsored by the Fort Hood Garrison Chaplain and Pray Hood. Soldiers who are being deployed to Iran or Afghanistan who have requested prayer warriors are matched with individual volunteers in local churches. When a volunteer completes a privacy release and provides contact information, the Fort Hood PrayFAST coordinator will match the prayer warrior with a soldier. The prayer warrior is given the name, unit of assignment, and military rank of the soldier for whom he or she is praying once a day, every day, until the soldier returns and for six months after they return during the readjustment time. The soldier and their families are to be covered in prayer. A sample prayer is also provided to each prayer warrior.

Outreach Ministry

First Church’s Outreach Chair, Michael Bohmfalk, believes that this is a wonderful way for families including children to experience intercessory prayer. Brochures with the privacy release and contact information will be available on line, in the foyer, and in the main office for volunteers who are interested in participating in this effort.
