Wednesday Morning Breakfast and Thursday Gathering

Each Wednesday morning, the United Methodist Men (UMM) prepare a breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit salad, biscuits and gravy, blueberry muffins, coffee and orange juice. Breakfast is served at 6 am sharp. After breakfast, we have a short business meeting and short devotional ending with prayer concerns and the Lord's Prayer. We usually adjourn around 7:10 am.

Man Alive!
We invite you to participate in a special series called Man Alive!

If you find 6 am spiritually daunting, check out our Thursday night gathering. Feel free to drop in any Thursday night at 7:00 in building 5, room 136. All men of the Church are encouraged to attend.

The United Methodist Men at First Church raise money through various projects including our famous Chicken Sundays, where we roast divinely inspired chickens over an open pit. These chickens, following a short stay at Seminary Farms, have been called to service for the Lord. We prepare them so you may offer them at your own lunch time service. They are accompanied by the best unleavened Peach Cobbler on God's Green Earth. Money raised from Chicken Sunday and our other projects fund the following:

  • The Youth here at First Church
  • The First Church Pastor's Community Assistance Fund which provides assistance
    to those in need in our community
  • Various United Methodist Charities and Projects
  • The Serving Center here in Round Rock
  • Mission Work in South Africa
  • We are always on call to help fund or carryout improvements around the Church such as painting, Christmas Lights, tree trimming, etc.

As you can see, we do more than eat breakfast on Wednesday mornings. We want the men of First Church to come to breakfast for the good groceries, but also to help us coordinate the many activities we undertake. Come visit with us, we look forward to seeing you!

BBQ Brisket Sunday - Purchase one of our delicious briskets after church to take home and enjoy with your family. Funds go toward the mission projects we support.

Fellowship Retreat at LCRA Retreat Center on Lake Buchanan
This annual retreat is for all men who would enjoy a weekend fishing, playing cards, and relaxing at the LCRA Cabins and Retreat Center at Lake Buchanan. The United Methodist Men will organize the logisitcs, food, etc. One does not need to be an active member of UMM to participate --- all men are welcome. This is always a fun time! Watch for 2009 date.
