Personal and Family Enrichment

In the Adult Ministries area you will find small group opportunities designed to enrich our personal and family lives. We offer a diverse and changing program of special interest educational opportunities and invite you to explore these opportunities for small group interaction and study.

Here are some of the ministries offered at First Church:

Man Alive! is a new weekly men’s ministry for those men seeking what it means to truly succeed in life. This is not a Bible Study. It is not an accountability group. It is not a time for “mature” Christians to gather and share deep things of faith. Man Alive is an opportunity for men to get together to focus on men’s issues of life in practical ways that appeal to men. This group meets for 8 weeks in the Spring and 8 weeks in the Fall.

Rebuilding: A Divorce Recovery Workshop Conrad Sloat, MS, MAHS, LPC, leads Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends. The step-by-step process offered in this divorce recovery workshop helps make a difficult time less traumatic. The group meets on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 pm for 10 weeks. Cost is $15 for the book. Limited childcare spots may be available for those who pre-register. We are currently in the planning stages for the next Divorce Reocovery Workshop which will take place in the fall. Scale Down, a realistic guide to balancing body, soul and spirit and achieving a healthy weight loss. This class meets on Mondays at 7 pm beginning in January. We offer this class each January (and at other times if there is a demand for it). In the meantime, some of the graduates of Scale Down have formed an on-going group of men and women who are interested in supporting each other, learning how to get our bodies in better condition to be able to better glofify and serve our God. Family Camp, a fun, relaxed retreat in the beautiful Texas Hill Country . This is a very inexpensive vacation that affords time to play, worship, and fellowship with your family and friends from First Church. See the link for more details about the Summer and Winter camps.

Financial Peace University  is the most important step to changing your financial future. It is your Total Money Makeover Program! It is a 13-week life-changing program that empowers and teaches you how to make the right money decisions to achieve your financial goals and experience a total money makeover. Classes are offered each fall (September start dates) and Winter (January start dates). See the link for more information.

Marriage Encounter is the largest marriage enrichment program in the world -- with more than 2 million couples having participated.
