How Can You Help?

The Bereavement Meals Ministry Needs You!
The Bereavement Meals Ministry at First Church provides food and a reception at the church for our families who have suffered a loss. The beauty of this ministry is the message of caring and support given to families who have lost a loved one. As our congregation continues to grow, we need more people serving in this area of ministry. We invite you to volunteer for the Bereavement Meals Ministry.
How can you help?
The nature of Bereavement Meals Ministry requires quick action in response to the loss of a loved one. We invite you to consider becoming one of the following:
Food Provider
Volunteer to prepare food. Several times a year you may have the opportunity to help furnish part of the food for a bereavement reception. The standard menu includes sandwiches, chips, fruit, veggies, homemade cookies and drink.
Food Coordinator
When food for a reception is needed, Food Coordinators contact their group of Food Provider volunteers and arrange for the appropriate amount of food to be delivered.
Host/Hostess
Often a reception will be held at the church following a memorial or funeral service. As one of several hosts/hostesses for the reception, you receive the food made by the Food Providers, plate it and arrange the buffet tables. During the reception, the hosts/hostesses refresh drinks and resupply the buffet. Following the reception, the hosts/hostesses box up any remaining food to send home with the family.
