Pastor's Community Assistance Fund in Need of Donations
The First Church Pastor's Community Assistance Fund is a significant outreach program to those in our community who are in need of special assistance.
Jesus calls us to minister to the people that the world marginalizes and ignores. "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." (Matthew 25:40)
In the past couple of years, we have experienced a 35% increase in the number of people who are seeking emergency assistance. This is a situation shared by virtually all of the community assistance programs in the area. On the first Sunday of each month, there is an envelope in the worship bulletin labeled "Pastor’s Community Fund" in which you are invited to place a contribution. Our congregation sends a monthly donation to both the Round Rock Serving Center and the Williamson County Crisis Center.
On most days, the Serving Center distributes all of its funds for the day before lunch. People seeking assistance are then referred to area churches. Our congregation provides approximately $35 per day to people who come to our church for emergency assistance. This helps with fresh milk, eggs, baby food, diapers and gasoline -- items that are often not available at the Serving Center.
We ask that you prayerfully consider making a donation to this ministry each month. Please either use the specially marked envelopes or make a notation on your check that it is for the Pastor’s Community Assistance Fund.
