Soon Advent will be here, and we will begin our Christian-year cycle once more. Through the year we trace the life of Jesus through the special seasons, and our responses to his call as we practice what we have learned.

The year ahead is, as Sesame Street would say, “presented by the letter W.” Each of our seasonal themes begins with that letter. We invite you to begin thinking now how each of these themes informs our lives as Christians.
Watch : Advent
Wonder: Christmas until Ash Wednesday
Walk: Lent
Wait: Easter to Pentecost
Witness: the rest of the year.
Watch as the Christian Year Begins with Advent

Advent begins with “watching.” We look expectantly for signs of the Messiah’s coming. We are told to “watch and pray” for God’s presence. We are to remain alert for the days of God’s Kingdom. To see what God is doing requires that we “Watch.” Advent begins December 2. Join us in this year-long journey of faith.

Watch and Pray: An Advent Study
December 6th, 13th and 20th

For three Thursday evenings during Advent, we will be offering a study/practicum on prayer. In keeping with the Advent theme, we are calling it “Watch and Pray.” We will be examining three traditional aspects of prayer, and taking time in the hour to practice them: centering prayer, intercession, and confession. These are designed to help you deepen your participation in the theme of our Advent worship, “Watch.” And we trust they will strengthen your prayer life all year. The three session class will meet at 7 pm on Thursdays, December 6, 13, and 20. Register online at Watch and Pray Registration, or at the Information Center in the Sanctuary foyer, or outside office 118 in Building 5.
