“Blest be the tie that binds…”
God does not often break into our lives with trumpets and lightning (though when we finally take note, it may seem like that!) Mostly, God is present in the daily gifts of life and who we encounter during our daily walk. Indeed, the Lord seems to be expert at being unnoticed. It’s been said, “Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.” Sometimes we wish God were more obvious; then we would not be wandering and wondering so much.
This week, we will be looking at some of the places we might find our Lord standing unnoticed in our lives. It’s not exactly that God hides from us; rather we do not look very long or hard.
The Advent message of waiting for and expecting the Savior is one of teaching each other to see with sharper vision what God is doing. Today, think how God “hides” among your friends!
We learn so much from those we meet! Has a friend even invited you to join in some project, something you would not have otherwise been involved in, and you discover as you go along something which excites you with the possibilities of serving and helping other people? In some ways, the best friends are those who help us find new ways of making a difference in our world. And isn’t that really God at work?!
HOW HAVE FRIENDS INTRODUCED YOU AT NEW AVENUES OF SERVICE AND CARING?
HAVE YOU THANKED THEM FOR SHOWING YOU GOD AT WORK?
Dr. John Clifford
Prayer: O God, when we find new ways to serve you because of our friends, we thank them, and you remain smiling in the shadows. Teach us to find you in our friends and their care for us; in Jesus’ name. Amen.
