A person joining First Church Round Rock makes a commitment to four ways of supporting the life of the congregation: by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service. In affirming this desire, you may become a member of First Church.

Members come by several avenues, each with certain expectations.

  • BAPTISM is a prelude to Profession of Faith. If you have been baptized as a child, or in another church tradition, you have made the first step. If you have not been baptized, it may be included in the ritual of membership (for youth and adults.)
  • PROFESSION OF FAITH is our term for those who have been baptized but never become members of a church before. Included in this group would be youth coming through the Confirmation classes each year.
  • TRANSFER OF MEMBERSHIP is our description of those who have been baptized and received into another congregation, whether United Methodist or another Christian denomination, who are now in our community and desire to be a full part of the life of First Church. You will be asked the question of your desire to support this congregation as you are welcomed.

Persons desiring church membership are invited to come forward at the close of each worship service. We recognize that there are people for whom it is uncomfortable to come before the congregation. If you are one such, speak to one of the pastors. From time to time First Church has held "No Stress Sundays" when people may join after the congregation has been dismissed.

If questions remain, speak to one of the pastors for further instruction.
